Debt Management Program
How to spot trouble
We have some bad news, folks. Just because we make it seem like a walk in the park doesn't mean it is really that simple. You see, when using the Web to research and contact debt management companies, there are a lot of pitfalls and traps to be wary of. This industry, particularly online, is teeming with people waiting to take advantage of you. There are people that want to swindle you at your most vulnerable point. Fortunately for you, there are ways to spot such debt relief companies, and we are going to give you the advice you need to do just that.
Be suspicious
When it comes time to select a debt relief company and a debt management program, there are a few obvious signs that should help you decide wether or not this seems like a legitimate business endeavor. First of all, if you are considering a debt management program from a company, be sure that they are nationally accredited and certified. You should also try searching for a non-profit organization rather than a for-profit.
Another great way to spot a bogus debt management program from a bogus company is if they ask for any money up front. In this industry, that is very uncommon and unorthodox. The only time a debt specialist should ask you for any money is after you decide on a debt management program with them and after they have negotiated with your creditors.
Last but not least, if you are considering a debt management program from a company that doesn't list a land address or a landline, you are better off without. We have seen too many people get taken for a ride by "companies" that only disclose a P.O. Box number. Don't be fooled. Don't be caught off guard.
